Zachary Navarro, Principal
Zach’s passion for horticulture ignited as a field specialist on a sustainable, organic produce farm as a teenager. The experience led him to concentrate his studies at the University of New Hampshire in plant biology, cultivation, soils and sustainable land management. In 2006, inspired by his love for both the natural world as well as farming and ornamental gardening, he embarked on horticultural restoration. Since then he has worked with contractors and organizations to successfully create and restore both ecological and historical landscapes. He is a Certified Arborist (MCA, MAA) a Certified Landscape Professional (MLP, MCLP), commercially licensed aquatic pesticide applicator (MDAR) and is OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certified. Zach enjoys industry-related education, has served on the New England Grows Education Committee and acts as the chair and exam administrator on the Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professionals Committee. He founded Essex Horticulture in 2009.
Nicholas Navarro, Principal
Nick has been with Essex Horticulture since its inception in 2009 while working on his B.A., and currently serves as principal and operations manager of the company. Since 2007, Nick’s experience and passion for horticultural restoration has evolved and manifested in many ways. After primarily offering ornamental horticulture services to estates and homes on the North Shore of MA, he greatly expanded Essex Horticulture's customer base by offering environmental restoration services to restore tidal marshes, freshwater wetlands, and upland habitats. Over time, Nick has worked on EPA Superfund Sites, restored ecosystems on hundreds of acres of government and commercial land, as well as grown his expertise by obtaining his Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional credential and his Hoisting Engineer License.
