FIELD OPERATIONS TEAM LEADER
Job description
Essex Horticulture seeks an experienced Field Operations Team Leader to oversee the restoration of our project sites, which include marshes, wetlands, parks, meadows, forests, riparian areas and green infrastructure. Installations in these settings range from native seed mixes to 8” caliper trees. The position will also direct the maintenance of these native ecosystems through pruning, weeding, watering, meadow mowing and managing invasive plants. Candidates must have previous field experience working on landscape installation teams. The ideal candidate is punctual, hardworking and a good, highly motivated leader above all other qualifications. The Field Operations Team Leader reports to the Operations Manager who they will work with directly on projects.
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 40 per week
Responsibilities:
· Supervise groups of three to six crew members to execute construction/landscape plans or maintenance activities.
· Implement landscape plans to specification.
· Maintain clear and accurate records.
· Operate mini excavators, skid steers, trucks and trailers.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
Requirements:
· 5+ years of field experience in landscape construction.
· 3+ years of experience managing crew members.
· Knowledge of landscape construction industry best practices.
· Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, organizational and time management skills.
· A strong work ethic and ability to execute and direct field work independently.
· Ability to lift 50+ lbs., repetitively, and work in New England weather conditions.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean record, DOT Medical Card and OSHA 10 certification.
· MCLP, MCH, MCA, MA Pesticide License preferable

ECOLOGICAL FIELD TECHNICIAN/LANDSCAPE LABORER
Job description
Essex Horticulture seeks Ecological Field Technicians / Landscape Laborers to help restore of our project sites, which include marshes, wetlands, parks, meadows, forests, riparian areas and green infrastructure. Installations in these settings range from native seed mixes to 8” caliper trees. The position will also maintain these native ecosystems through pruning, weeding, watering, meadow mowing and managing invasive plants. Candidates must have previous field experience working on landscape installation and maintenance teams. · Work closely with Field Operations Team Leader and teammates to execute projects according to industry best practices in an expeditious manner.
· Identify native and invasive plants and maintain/manage them in the landscape.
· Work as part of a team and take direction.
· Understand and meet production and project schedule deadlines while providing high quality work.
· Keep accurate time sheet records.
· Perform other tasks as assigned by the Field Operations Team Leader.
Requirements:
· 2+ years of field experience in landscape construction, maintenance or applied ecology.
· Knowledge of landscape industry and/or applied ecology best practices.
· Knowledge of perennials, shrubs and trees.
· Excellent communication, teamwork, organizational and time management skills.
· A strong work ethic.
· Ability to lift 50+ lbs., repetitively, and work in New England weather conditions.
